Cutting-edge technology that really sets us apart

Dental implants are becoming the most popular way to replace missing teeth and there are many dental practices offering this type of treatment. This can make it difficult for patients to find the right dental team to provide their treatments.

At Aviva Dentistry, we have been placing implants for many years, so we have a long track record of providing beautiful, successful treatments. Dr Julian Caplan is a world-renowned cosmetic dentist and his attention to detail is absolutely second to none.

The secret to success with implant dentistry is the planning. Dr Julian Caplan plans every case from the outside in, first designing how the restored smile will look and then planning the precise positioning of each implant to achieve this final aesthetic. This enhanced level of precision planning can only be achieved with digital dentistry, which is why this is at the heart of everything we do here at Aviva Dentistry.

Restore your smile, restore your confidence!

At Aviva Dentistry we offer dental implants as a long-term solution to missing teeth. This treatment is incredibly popular because dental implants act and feel just like natural teeth do, making them a great solution to give your smile, and your confidence, back.

Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth and can even be used to permanently hold a denture in place. Click on the links below to find out more about the individual treatment options, or read on below to find out more about what dental implants are.

Our digital technology

Digital dentistry is cutting edge and allows us to provide you with the best, precise, comfortable dentistry, with results that you will love. This is especially important for dental implant treatments as they are an intricate and complex a treatment. For that reason, we use the most state-of-the-art digital technology to plan every case, allowing us to create excellent, predictable results every time.

  • Guided implant surgery – we always use this for dental implant treatments, to ensure every result is as accurate and stable as possible. This is a highly advanced approach that only a few dental practices are able to offer in the UK
  • CBCT scans – we always begin with a CBCT scan that provides us with a detailed picture of your jawbone and the surrounding tissue, giving us the perfect platform to work from
  • Intraoral scanner – our highly accurate intraoral scanner is used when impressions are required as opposed to using traditional impression materials, which our patients find much more comfortable
  • 3D digital imaging – the digital scans are merged with the CBCT of your jawbone to produce a 3D digital representation of your implant site. This allows careful planning and accurate production of a surgical guide. The surgical guide ensures optimum positioning of the implant and allows visualisation of important nerves and sinuses to prevent damaging these important structures.

What does dental implant treatment involve?

Dental implants work by first placing a titanium screw into the jawbone where the missing tooth used to be, using a surgical procedure. These will heal and integrate properly with the bone in order to provide a solid foundation for the new prosthetic tooth or teeth to fit on top.

Dental implant surgery is a precise treatment that relies on the quality of the bone, so we will always begin the process with a CBCT scan to give us a 3D image of your jaw. We will discuss this with you and if the bone does not appear stable enough to support dental implants we are able to provide additional treatments to help, such as a synthetic bone graft.

Exquisite results

At Aviva Dentistry you can rely on an excellent aesthetic result. We use an advanced method called guided implant surgery, which ensures a high level of accuracy and is especially useful in cases where multiple teeth need to be replaced.

Dr Julian Caplan will create a bespoke treatment plan for you, tailored to your needs and aesthetic goals, and you will be able to discuss every aspect to ensure that you are happy and comfortable with everything before we go ahead.

  • Dental implants are made predominantly out of titanium, although zirconium (a type of porcelain) is beginning to be used. The titanium material bonds to the bone forming a metal root that a crown can be attached to and acts just like a root on a real tooth.

  • Dental implants are placed very carefully into the jaw bone using a local anaesthetic in the same way as when you have a tooth removed. The dental implant is sterile and, because of this and the gentle nature of implant placement, the post-operative pain is usually far less than when a tooth is removed and often, over the counter painkillers is all that is necessary should any pain relief be required.

  • It is important that the newly placed implant is not disturbed until it bonds securely to the jaw bone.  For back teeth, usually the new crown is placed between 8 and 12 weeks after the dental implant is placed. In the front of the mouth, a temporary crown can be placed at the time of implant placement, but you will need to make sure that this is not used to bite anything to allow the implant to stabilise for the final crown 8 to 12 weeks later.

  • The benefit of dental implants is that no other teeth are used to restore the space unlike dental bridges. Research shows that dental implants have a longer life span than dental bridges.

    Patient Reviews

I went in to have my veneers replaced- after 12 years they weren’t looking so great.

From the online consultation, to the same-day procedure (totally painless and stress-free), Aviva were fantastic.

I had 100% confidence in Dr Caplan at all times, and my teeth have never looked better or more natural- there’s no way you could tell they’re veneers at this point which is exactly what I wanted. I’m a very happy customer indeed.

    Absolutely first class!

Dr Caplan put me at complete ease, and discussed my options without being pushy.

I am over the moon with the results! Would highly recommend.

I would recommend this practice as it’s welcoming, it’s modern and the technology Julian uses is the best in the country!

The digital scanner that was used in my mouth to take the impressions of my teeth was painless and quick. It also meant that the imagery went straight to Invisalign and the whole experience was seamless and very fast.

Everything was done in one day which I think is just amazing! Dr Caplan uses this latest technology, which I think is probably what enables it to be done in one day, painlessly and without discomfort at all.

I came along at about 8 / 8.30 one morning and the whole job was finished by about 4.30/5 o’clock.

I would certainly recommend this practice and I have recommended it to many friends and family because I believe it’s probably the best place to come if you want to improve everything about your teeth from a smile perspective and probably from a medical perspective.

“I found it uncomfortable to eat because of two fractured teeth, so I had implants to replace them.

After having the implants I was able to eat again and had no discomfort!

Since then everything has been well, and I have the knowledge that they’ll last for many years.”

Brilliant! My disgusting white and metal crown has been removed with no pain, no hassle and replaced with a beautiful looking Cerec crown.

Nervous patient, no reason to be. Proactively going to crown another tooth as the experience was so good.
