Dental veneers are a wafer thin, porcelain cosmetic tooth covering that is fitted onto the front surface of the teeth. They are used to disguise flaws such as chipped, broken, gappy or crooked teeth to improve the shape, shade and appearance.

Veneers are individually made and bonded onto the front of your tooth. We always take a minimally invasive approach at Aviva Dentistry, if it is necessary to remove a very small layer of the natural tooth surface in order to fit your veneers, we will discuss this in detail with you.

‘Smiles in a day’

This treatment really is quite unique! ‘Smiles in a day‘ means providing veneers and crowns that change a patients smile, usually involving 6, 8 or 10 teeth…and this can all be done in just one visit!

Most practices in the UK and around the world will usually take 2-3 weeks to complete this treatment, but Dr Caplan’s expertise and experience means he can use our advanced digital equipment to deliver exquisite results for our patients in just one day.

  • A porcelain veneer is only 0.5mm thick and this means a tooth that is prepared for a veneer to allow for room for the porcelain veneer to be fitted has minimal tooth removed. Sometimes non preparation veneers are possible if the original tooth position allows.

  • At Aviva Dentistry the whole process, from the minimal shaping of the teeth to the final veneers being fitted, is usually completed in a day. Dr Caplan is the pioneer of this technique and the skills he has developed allows him to manufacture the veneers on-site.

  • Research shows that the average time veneers last is approximately 10 years. However, Dr Caplan has been providing this treatment since 1994 in St Albans and in this time it has been rare for him to have to replace veneers he has fitted.

  • The black line is caused by a metal substructure underneath old-style crowns. At Aviva Dentistry we only use porcelain which means there is no underlying metal and because of this, you will not have this problem.
